Platform Sutra Study
First Saturday of the Month, from 9:30 to Noon
The Platform Sutra is foundational to Chan and Zen. It is attributed to Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Chan and Zen. It relates his life, but most importantly it presents his teachings, which are a very distinct presentation of Buddhism from the Pali Suttas. In this series Gareth will provide context for the teachings through their doctrinal foundations and he will show how we can move this into practice.
The text we will use for the class is McRae translation of the Platform Sutra. I'll be referring to page references and quoting from it. Available for purchase as a book and free download at BDK's site
