 Mindfulness and Intimacy

One-Day Retreat with Ben Connelly
Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 8:45 to 5:00

On this one-day retreat, through guided and silent meditation, teachings, and dialogue, Ben Connelly will lead us through an exploration of mindfulness and intimacy; an integrated path of personal and social healing and liberation.

Mindfulness is an ancient and powerful practice of awareness and nonjudgmental discernment that can help us ground ourselves in the present moment, with the world and our lives just as they are. But there’s a risk: by focusing our attention on something (or someone), we might always see it as something other, as separate from ourselves. To close this distance, mindfulness has traditionally been paired with a focus on intimacy, community, and interdependence. In his newest book, Ben Connelly shows us how to bring these two practices together—bringing warm hearts to our clear seeing.

In addition to leading the one-day retreat, Ben will be sitting with the sangha on Sunday March 10th and will lead the dharma discussion. All are welcome to attend the Sunday discussion, independent of registering for the retreat.

Ben Connelly is a Soto Zen teacher and Dharma heir in the Katagiri lineage. He also teaches mindfulness in a wide variety of secular contexts including police and corporate training, correctional facilities, and addiction recovery and wellness groups. Ben is based at Minnesota Zen Meditation Center and travels to teach across the United States. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ben is the author of Inside the Grass Hut, Inside Vasubandhu's Yogacara, and Mindfulness and Intimacy (Wisdom Publications).

Cost  As with all of our in-town retreats, there is no charge. And our visiting teacher has committed his life to the teachings and practice of the dharma, for which donations are a major contributor to income. Donations are encouraged and all donations received will be for Ben.
