Back to Basics Retreat
A One-Day Online Retreat with Richard Skoonberg
Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 8:45 to 5:00
What is a “Back to Basics” retreat?
During the retreat, we will exam some of the most basic and encompassing teachings of the Buddha. These will include understanding and working with the Four Noble Truths. These truths identified by the Buddha are: (1) life inevitably contains suffering; (2) this suffering is caused by craving and clinging to impermanent things; (3) suffering can be ended by cutting the roots of craving; and (4) this can be achieved by following the Eight-Fold Path outlined by the Buddha.
We will explore how a deeper understanding of these Truths provide a roadmap to transform suffering in our lives and the lives of others. Along with this basic Buddhist teaching, we will be exploring basic meditation and breathing practices that can help us attain a deeper understanding of these concepts more fully.
