Listening with Dharma
A Dharma Study Session
with Katie Rhodes
October 26th, 2024, 9:00 to noon, Zoom only
The ability to listen is the foundation of relationship. When we listen, we give a gift of being heard. Listening allows new perspectives of ourselves and others to emerge. We may respond to difficulties with greater compassion. Listening may help us recognize openings for peace in contentious times.
This Dharma study session is and invitation to investigate the Buddha's teachings on listening. What meditative qualities fine tune and support an ability to listen? What reminds us to listen deeply in the midst busy of daily life?
We will read selected suttas from the Pali Canon about listening along with writings from other Buddhist teachers. There will be a guided meditation. We will have plenty of time to discuss and listen as we share experiences with deep listening, what gets in the way, and how Buddhist practice supports ongoing cultivation of skillful listening.
A study guide will be provided for the session.
