Practicing with aging, sickness and death and dying in the Dharma: A Dharma Study Session with Gareth Young and Elizabeth Gibson
Saturday, September 6, 2025, 9:00am to 12:30pm
In Person and on Zoom
Aging and illness can be immensely challenging. The Buddha doesn't offer any magic remedies, but he does offer several specific practical ones and those are what we are going to discuss on this day. Additionally, how can we practice with the knowledge of our death and dying process and that of those we love so that we suffer less during both?
This session is a follow up to the similar session we held together in 2024. In this one, Gareth and Elizabeth will draw on suttas from the Pali canon, the Sutra of Huineng, and other Buddhist materials to share and discuss the Buddha's teachings on aging, sickness, death and dying. We will intersperse our presentations with periods of meditation and discussion, with a short break in the middle. We hope you can join us!
