Service Opportunity: Help Families in Need at Urban Recipe

Dear Sangha Members,

We invite you to join us in supporting Urban Recipe, an organization dedicated to fostering food security and dignity through community-driven food cooperatives. 

Date & Time: Friday, May 30, from 10 AM to 12 PM

Location: Urban Recipe, 970 Jefferson St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

Volunteer Tasks:

• Building food boxes

• Light cleaning

• Packaging food

• General warehouse upkeep

Parking & Arrival:

• Park in the large, gated lot off Jefferson St. NW (adjacent to the warehouse).

• Look for the Urban Recipe signage at the entrance.

• Enter through the open bay doors and meet us at the Urban Recipe banner inside. Staff will be there to guide you!

• Closed-toed, comfortable shoes (sneakers, boots, etc.).

• Weather-appropriate clothing (the warehouse has no central heat or AC).

• Water bottle to stay hydrated.

About Urban Recipe Food Pantry:

Urban Recipe, formerly Georgia Avenue Community Ministry (GACM), began in 1990 through Georgia Avenue Church and incorporated in 2001 under Rev. Chad Hale. Focused on food cooperative programming, Urban Recipe enhances food security for under-resourced individuals and families using Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) principles. This approach mobilizes community abilities to create economic opportunities. Urban Recipe's member-led food co-ops do not require financial contributions, promoting dignity, support, and community. With a history of cooperation and community building, Urban Recipe prioritizes relationships and mutual support over simple aid. Learn more
