Winter Practice Period (90 Days)

Led by Anzen Benjamin

Mondays from January 5, 2026 to March 30, 2025

from 5:00AM to 6:15AM

In person at Red Clay Sangha and Online on Zoom

Event Background:

This event is a sibling event to the Vassango held from July-September 2025, with one small difference. While Vassango has precedent both in Theravadan and East Asian Mahayana (i.e. Chan/Zen) communities--hence the mash-up of "Vassa" and "Ango"--this January-March practice period only has a counterpart in East Asian Mahayana (e.g. Japanese Zen communities often have Winter Ango).

Regardless of historical origin, the invitation with this event is the same as Vassango: It is offered to encourage one's practice, whatever it is right now.

Event Description:

Come join us beginning Jan 5th and start your Monday with meditation, chanting, and sangha!

We will be chanting a short selection from the Majjhima Nikaya (Middle Length Discourses), which can be found on Dhammatalks.org

(if you click the arrow on that page next to the title of the piece, you can hear a version of it being chanted).

*Although this event allows online attendance, we would love to see you in-person*

Organizer Bio:

Benjamin's first encounter with Buddhist practice was when they stumbled across a Zen anecdote in second grade. He has meditated regularly since 2022 and has an appreciation for all forms of practice, drawing inspiration especially from Theravadan and East Asian traditions, which is part of what drew them to Red Clay beginning in 2023.

Cost There is no cost to attend this event.

Location At Red Clay Sangha's physical space

Red Clay Sangha's physical space is at 3315 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Chamblee, GA 30341
